Children of Abraham
Building Bridges Through Understanding
In March of 2002, the Nashua Area and Souhegan Valley
Interfaith Councils collaborated to present a three part educational
series: Children of Abraham ~
Building Bridges Through Understanding. The series focused on increasing
understanding of the common roots of the three religions of the Abrahamic
tradition, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It examined the beliefs and
practices of each and provided an opportunity for dialogue.
The series began with an overview of historical, religious, and cultural heritage of the three faiths, presented by Dr. Charles Kennedy, religious scholar and archeologist. The second presentation was a panel discussion focusing on beliefs, practices, holy days, and symbolism. In the final session, lay representatives discussed living their faith in today's world. There were opportunities for questions and personal interaction at each meeting.
The series was held at the Congregational Church of Amherst.
