Nashua Area Interfaith Council
Minutes
April 6, 2005

The April meeting of NAIC was held at Temple Beth Abraham. The meeting was opened with prayer led by Sharon Spivak. Breakfast followed.

Faith communities attending were: Nashua Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ Science, Habitat for Humanity, Community Church of Hudson, Temple Beth Abraham, First Baptist of Nashua, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, St. Joseph Hospital, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Arlington Street Methodist, Main Street Methodist, Souhegan Hospice, First Baptist of Hudson, Pilgrim Congregational, Universalist Unitarian, Christ the King Lutheran, Emmaus Institute, and Good Shepherd Episcopal.

Sharon Spivak shared the recognition given to NAIC at the March New Hampshire Council of Churches. NAIC was recognized as the outstanding Interfaith Organization is the state. A framed certificate was passed around.

Announcements included:

• The Festival of Faith program on April 10th at the First Baptist Church of Nashua. This event is sponsored by NAIC, Souhegan Interfaith Council, and Manchester Interfaith Council. The theme is "The Golden Rule." (Audrey Doll)
• Habitat for Humanity reported their fund raising hike is set of May 20 and 21. They are reviewing applicants for the new house they are planning to build.(Bill Paterson)
• The Quilt Project (Franklin Haskill) is looking for a meeting space.
• The United Church Women are planning a May Fellowship event on May 7 at the Pilgrims Church (Bobbie Knickerbocker)
• First Baptist Church of Hudson is holding bicentennial activities including a organ concert on April 17.

Future Meetings:

• The May meeting is scheduled at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Broad Street. Laurie Skibba of the Greater Nashua Interfaith Housing Network will talk.
• The June meeting will be at the Millet Center on Vine Street. Parking is available at St. Louis Gonzaga Roman Catholic Church. Contact is Starr Shallow.

A moment of silence was held in recognition of Pope John Paul II's death on April 1.

The program for the meeting was "How do we address God through prayer?" Thoughts were shared by a number of the attendees.

The meeting was adjourned at 9 AM with prayer by Sharon Spivak.
