Meeting Minutes Nashua Area Interfaith Council November 2, 2005
The meeting was held at First Church, Nashua and began at 7:30 a.m. with a
breakfast. Rev. Jim Chaloner offered an opening prayer.
Faith Communities attending included: Temple Beth Abraham, Nashua
Presbyterian, Christian Science, Congregation Betenu, Church of the Good
Shepherd, Hudson Community Church, Arlington Street Methodist Church, Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Main Street Methodist Church, Habitat,
Chinmaya Mission, Christ the King, Bahai, Emmaus Institute, Pilgrim Church,
First Baptist of Hudson, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Unitarian
Universalist Church, Nashua, and the Visiting Nurse Association.
Announcements:
- Church Women United will meet on Friday at 9:30 am at First Baptist
Church Hudson.
- Ed Koonz shared a biography of Dr. Wm. Manseau, written by his son Peter.
- Good Shepherd is having a service of healing this Sunday for victims of
sexual abuse.
- Bill Paterson shared the work of Habitat and plans to help in rebuilding
for victims of hurricane Katrina.
- The Greater Nashua Interfaith Hospitality Network reported a fund raiser
for December 10, and also indicated a letter to faith communities supporting
this work was sent requesting contributions for its work in 2006.
Program:
Mr. Norman Hall and Sharon Spivak spoke on end of life of issues. Norman
spoke of funeral arrangements and Sharon cover Advanced Directives. Starr
Swallow also contributed to the presentation. The overall response to the
presentation was very positive
Business Meeting:
- The Treasurer's report was presented by Bill Doll. Our current balance is
$1,615. The outstanding invoice is the cost of food for the CROP Walk.
- Minutes of the October meeting were received.
- The CROP WALK on October has brought in between $34-$35,000. Final
tabulation has not been completed.
Election of 2006 Officers:
The following persons were placed in nomination and by motion were elected.
- Rev. Steve Edington President 2 year term
- Mr. Franklin Haskill Vice President 2 year term
- Mr. Bill Doll Treasurer 1 year term Rev.
- Tom Woodward Secretary 1 year term
- Sharon Spivak Past President 2 year term
- Rev. Mary Siegmund Member at Large 1 year term*
- Starr Shallow Member at Large 2 year term
- Latha Mangipudi Member at Large 2 year term
The next meeting is December 7 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center (10
Prospect Street)
