The Greater Nashua Area CROP Walk for hunger is sponsored by the Nashua Area Interfaith Council (NAIC). This year (2011) marks the 27th anniversary of the walk in Nashua.
A committee chaired by Pastor Jeff Evans of First Church managed the walk in its early years. More recently, different faith-based groups manage the Crop Walk on a 2-year rotation. We are grateful to Temple Beth Abraham for taking on the management role this year.
A total of approximately $800,000 has been raised over the past 26 years reflecting the efforts of over 20 faith-based organizations from our community. Seventy-five per cent of the funds raised are donated to Church World Service or to an organization designated by the donor, with the balance remaining in the local community to support the Salvation Army, the St. John Neumann Food Pantry, the Corpus Christi Food Pantry, and the Nashua Soup Kitchen.
The CROP Walk this year is scheduled for Sunday, October 23rd. For a very nice description of this year’s walk, including how to join in, please check out the Church World Service website for the Nashua walk and for an even better description, check out the walk blog.
