At this holy season, the Nashua Area Interfaith Council would like to offer this prayer to our community with blessings for a wonderful holiday and New Year. This was published in the Liberal Jewish Synagogue News.

Interfaith Prayer for Peace

“God of Abraham, God of Sarah and God of Hagar, God of Isaac and God of Ishmael, God of the 12 sons of Jacob and God of the 12 sons of Ishmael, God of Jesus, God of Mohammed, God of the spirits of all human beings, we turn to you for guidance.

“We are all your children, descendants of Abraham, entrusted with your blessing: ‘through you shall all the peoples of the earth be blessed.’

“We have failed you and each other. We face each other across barriers of misunderstanding and mistrust, of hatred and fear. Where these is injustice, let there be justice. Where there is are wounds let there be healing. Where there is pain, let there be relief. Where there is violence, let there be negotiation. Where there is single-mindedness, let there be compromise. Where there is bitterness, let there be forgiveness. Where there is humiliation, let there be honor. Where there is guilt, let there be repentance. Where there is death, let there be life. Where there is hatred, let there be love. Where there is war, let there be peace.”
